All-Wheel Drive performance in an attitude-packed wagon deliver a one-two punch to automotive boredom!

You're driving back from school for the weekend, or back to town from a business trip. Its five, maybe ten below zero outside and the sun is trying to peek out from behind a silvery cloud cover which is getting alarmingly close to the ground as you progress along your way. The fuel tank is full, your favorite 6 CD's are in the stereo and your cell phone is charged and waiting quietly at your side, just in case.

Then, it begins.

Oncoming traffic passes you by, covered in thick, dirty snow. Four-ways blink a message of caution and warning at you and your fellow motorists. As quickly as you could change CD's, the clear grey road becomes clouded with clumpy, blowing snow, and pavement gives way to peanut-buttery slush as traction is reduced to near zero. You feel a sort of subliminal bond with the other motorists, as the tension mounts to a nearly unbearable level while all around you fight to get home safely, regardless of the original intention of your trip.

If you are a cold-blooded northerner, this probably happens to you a few times a week on the way to work or school. If you aren't, it can be a harrowing experience.

How would you rather tackle winter driving? With gritted teeth and white knuckles? Or with that sense of content satisfaction of being isolated from the elements and enjoying the ride safely from inside a comfortable and roomy cockpit? Fight the steering wheel to maintain your line and cringe every time a car approaches from the other lane? Or deftly penetrate mother nature's twisted concoction of sleet, snow and ice while the latest computer gadgetry and a state of the art all-wheel drive system sort the road out for you?

I'll pick option B, thank you.

That being the case, you'll need an all-wheel drive machine. Would an SUV do the trick? A pickup truck perhaps? A minivan maybe? What about an all-wheel drive sedan? A compact?

I've done some leg work for my readers and found a happy medium. That's right folks, Pritch has got your back.

Maybe you just so happen to be a value-minded person who is active, likes the outdoors and doesn't take any guff from mother nature when you need to get around. After all, your life doesn't stop for snowstorms or freezing rain. Perhaps you ski, snowboard or play hockey. But there are compromises in many of the vehicles that will get you and your gear where you need to go in bad weather. SUV's are generally not very fun to drive. A sedan may not quite have all the room you need to haul around sporting gear and 4 or 5 friends, if you frequent a ski hill on weekends, for instance. That being the case, a compact AWD machine won't do the trick either, which is fine because you'll be giving your insurance broker your right arm and left leg, negating the need to haul around any winter sporting stuff anyhow.
